One of my favorite translation woes happened to a friend. He was trying to sell his collection of Pink Floyd records to a buyer in Europe. Internet sales transactions are no place for small talk, and he proceeded to praise her “love of the pink parts.” Sale cancelled.

Marianne-Thanks so much for taking time to be on the call with me and my Book Club friends tonight. We all really enjoyed it-and I especially appreciate your hanging in there with us when you were not feeling well.
When you are feeling better (and NOT before!!), can you send me your Paris list? We’ve got some fun travels planned for this year-John and I will be heading to London and Iceland in May, then my daughter Meghan and I will be in Paris for a week around Bastille Day. In late October, John and I are taking a Med cruise out of Barcelona and will make 4 stops in Italy and a stop in Monte Carlo before heading back to Barcelona. You can be sure that I will be rereading your book for more ideas (and it is already dog-eared!). Just getting a little nervous about American Airlines messing around with our flights-we booked award travel and just got notified that our flight home is cancelled-so now we have to fly BCN-JFK-LGA-PHL-ugh!
Congratulations to you and Joe for planning your retirement. At this point, the thing that is really holding me back is health insurance. Our trips are my sanity!
Feel better and thanks again! Beth
